Mission

We're building the brain of green energy.

PowereX operates a Virtual Power Plant — a distributed system that controls, in real time, hundreds of batteries, solar installations, and flexible energy resources as a single intelligent whole. Our platform trades on European energy markets, stabilizes power grids, and replaces fossil-fuel backup with clean flexibility.

These aren't CRUD endpoints. These are decisions made in milliseconds that change where your electricity comes from.

What you'll actually be doing

You won't be closing tickets — you'll be building the brain of the VPP.

  • Hardware & market integrations — connecting batteries, inverters, and SCADA systems; sending commands to OKTE, SEPS, and intraday exchanges

  • Real-time control commands — sub-second pipelines where latency = money or penalties

  • Control & trading orchestration — connecting control algorithms (dispatch, flexibility activation, SOC management) with trading and market infrastructure; ensuring the right signal reaches the right place at the right time

  • Market data & forecasting — time-series at massive scale, ML models for prices and consumption

  • Infrastructure — event-driven architecture (Kafka), cloud-native AWS, IaC via Terraform

Stack
  • Backend: Java (Spring Boot / Micronaut), Python, Bash

  • Cloud: AWS Lambda, ECS/Fargate, MSK (Kafka), Glue, S3, Batch

  • Data: TimescaleDB, R, Keras / PyTorch / GBMs

  • DevOps: Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Docker, GitHub Actions

  • Observability: Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenSearch

What you need
  • Java or Python at senior/mid level (ideally both)

  • SQL + time-series — you know what a hypertable is and why it matters

  • Systems thinking — you understand distributed systems, failure modes, idempotency

  • Fluent Slovak + English — you'll communicate with clients and an international team

  • Work authorization in the EU

Nice to have
  • Experience with Terraform/Terragrunt

  • AWS certifications or deep knowledge of the ecosystem

  • Background in energy, IoT, algorithmic trading, or control systems

What we offer
  • Freedom — results over micromanagement; you choose your tools

  • Impact — your code reduces CO₂ and keeps the grid frequency stable

  • Bratislava office or full remote (EU)

  • Flat team of ~30 people — no politics, no unnecessary bureaucracy

  • Flexible working hours
